My friends at 13Photography, a wonderful new retail photography gallery/classroom/store in Grand Junction, CO, were discussing what sells and what doesn't. Though they have a few vintage Ansel Adams prints (not for sale), they told me that "Grand Landscapes" in bold, bright colors is what their market was most interested in. Instead of retreating to the "well, call me when they learn to appreciate true art" cave of no return (hee, hee), I took the challenge. I came home and coursed through some of my files and found a small collection of what I think of as Grand Landscapes. And you know what? I like them! I recall each instance and they have the same strong emotional recall as other images I've made that I would categorize as more artfully conceived. Thanks for the inspiration to revisit my work, boys!
