I coined the term "ancient homescapes" years ago in an attempt to better reflect what I felt about these ancient dwellers of the land I love and live in. When visiting sites, whether structure or rock art, I am most intrigued by how the image or geometry of the built envrionment relates to the natural poetry of the surrounding rock. Like my poet friends I try to get the lines right! I am also instructed by the sites to take a broad look around. It is then I am reminded that the entire landscape was home to these people, just as it feels to me now.
