First impressions can be impressive. I made my first trip to Badlands NP in South Dakota in June, 2015, about 3 weeks before getting a heart valve replaced. May I say it was a heart stopper! I stayed two nights on the way to my nephew's wedding and another on the way home to Moab. It was a fun interlude to 1500 miles of driving. There are badlands in many western states. Wyoming, Nevada, Utah and even Montana has some. It's the character of the geology that attracts me, not what state it's in or if it's a preserved area.
